The
Volunteer Center
Website: www.oprfvolunteercenter.org
The Volunteer
Center is a clearinghouse which matches volunteers of all ages with opportunities
at over 120
area-wide agencies. These organizations are also helped with their volunteer
needs through a weekly
column in the local paper as well as other publications. In addition to connecting people
and agencies, the Center, a United Way agency, also has programs which
uses volunteers to
address community issues. The TIME program provides youth offenders with community service
hours in lieu of court; Youth Connect is a mentoring program for at-risk youth; Volunteer
Jobs finds meaningful work for the mentally ill.
