Our local children and families need help at times ...Hephzibah can answer the need in so many ways!

Child Welfare Services -- Hephzibah believes strongly that children should live in families. And, whenever possible, their own family. Hephzibah also believes that children should have a safe, nurturing environment, free from abuse and neglect. Hephzibah works on solutions, with the best interest of the child at heart. Whether its helping to stabilize the child's own family, or finding a loving, caring environment outside the home, Hephzibah combines social service programs and community services to assist children and their families through stressful times.

Foster Care ensures that there is a licensed family home for children in crisis. Children are placed in foster care in their own community so that there is minimal disruption to their daily routines . . . school, church, friends, relatives.

The Shelter at Hephzibah is a short term group home for children aged 4-11 who are abused, neglected, emotionally disturbed or behavior disordered. Children residing at the Shelter undergo extensive medical and psychological evaluation and treatment to help them through this difficult period and determine the long term care they need.

The Residence at Hephzibah provides long term care for young children who have been traumatized by abuse, neglect or the loss of their parents.

School Age Day Care provides 250 children, kindergarten through 5th grade, with a warm, stimulating, before and after school day care program. The program is funded through parent fees, community contributions and federal grants, and is located at Hephzibah and elementary schools throughout the community.

Substance Abuse Assessment & Referral Program for Preteens and Teens
The use of alcohol and drugs is pervasive among youth. It is often difficult for teens and their families to confront this problem, let alone know how to get help.

The Substance Abuse Assessment and Referral Program was started because of these needs. Hephzibah Children's Association, through its Family Based Services, provides help in recognizing substance abuse and finding the right resources for families and teens.

Professionals from Family Based Services provide comprehensive assessments and recommend treatment options to families and teens in our communities.

Family Support Program --The primary purpose of this program is the prevention of child abuse and neglect in the Oak Park and River Forest Communities.
